VIP Security Protection for a Large Estate
Sector: VIP Security Protection
Sites: Large Estate, Hampshire
System: CCTV, ANPR, Intercom and Gate Automation Technology
Background
A Plus Security were tasked with a challenging design and installation for a vast 1000-acre estate where the access to the ground were not protected.
Challenges
The estate came with many challenges that would need to be overcome to offer the best possible protection for the client. The design that A Plus Security offered was to create a virtual ‘ring of steel’ where an agreed perimeter around the main properties were to be protected by analytical CCTV. This would allow for the on site security team to be able to monitor outwardly any movements of an intruder if they were to come on to the Estate. As it is difficult to position a camera in every position to cover 1000-acres, it was agreed that the ‘ring of steel’ and the correct type of camera positioned would be installed to offer the security team enough to proactively identify and respond to an intruder before they are able to get close to the properties.
Solutions
The cameras chosen were all analytical and a mixture of static and PTZ cameras to allow for 24/7 monitoring of the grounds. A Plus Security installed the cameras strategically to pick up all movements up to 200 metres away from the ‘ring of steel’ and also offered smart tracking for the approach roads and the main and secondary entrance gates.
As well as the analytical CCTV, A Plus Security designed and installed the ANPR system, gate automation, intercom, fibre infrastructure and a wireless network. With the estates main gate being approx. ½ a mile away and the ‘ring of steel’ perimeter having no dedicated hardwired network to support the installation it was decided that a wireless network would be the most cost efficient way to transmit the CCTV, Intercom and ANPR systems back to the security lodge.
A Plus Security ensured that the system had scope for future additions without big budget expenditure on the central control equipment. The wireless network installed was designed to so that it has the capability to be expanded by another 30% if the need arises.
The installation proved a success with the system proving its worth within the first few weeks after it was commissioned allowing the security to respond proactively to any potential intrusion.
